What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves a pressure technique using the thumbs and fingers on the reflex areas found in the feet, hands and face. Reflexology is extremely effective and is based on the principle that reflexes in the feet, hands and face correspond to each organ and structure in the body.
By stimulating reflex points a positive response can be achieved in the corresponding part of the body. Reflexology does not claim to cure or diagnose. It may however help bring about a state of deep relaxation and stimulate the body’s own healing processes.
Reflexology is a very individual treatment, it looks at the person as a whole and is concerned with the cause of the problem rather than just the symptoms. Many people use it as a way of relaxing the mind and body to reduce tension. Often people find it helps them to sleep and improves their mood and sense of wellbeing. It is a therapy that can be received by anyone at any age.
During a treatment all you have to do is sit in a reclined reflexology chair and relax. Your bare feet will be raised up and your body will be covered in blankets if you wish. Most people shut their eyes and relax, hovering in a light sleep zone. The main thing is that you are comfortable and enjoy the treatment.
